What is money? This question is more difficult than it seems on first glance. Current events make it clear every day that something is terribly wrong with what passes for money in our time. There is a great opportunity for the Church to bear witness of God’s truth in this matter, but the opportunity is being squandered. Much of the talk about money that does arise out of the Church today exhibits the same problems as are found in the worldly wisdom. In this book Mr. Mooney examines the biblical teaching regarding money and the historical problems that have occurred as generations have ignored this teaching.

From the foreword by Franklin Sanders:

“Alas, the life of the flesh is in the blood, and money is the life blood of any economy. If the blood is diseased, can the body remain sound? Is money somehow an exception where we do not need to "think God's thoughts after Him"? No, it is the very beginning of restoring Christian faithfulness to the most fundamental daily activities of every Christian's life. Around the world money is a filthy canker, a hypocritical fraud possessing neither shadow nor substance. What should be an instrument of our freedom has become instead a tool of our enslavement. The use of fraudulent money is a moment-by-moment contradiction of our Christian confession, a hot-potato game in which we all hope to avoid being burned - but at the expense of our brothers.

Secular, and indeed Christian, economists have wallowed in the Slough of Confusion regarding money. In this book Scott Mooney offers Christendom a gigantic first step toward the restoration of obedience to God and Christian faithfulness in understanding money. There will never be a beginning of Christian restoration to our economy until first our sinful monetary system is brought into conformity with the plain requirements of Scripture. May God use this book to breathe into His people a desire for His righteousness in every aspect of their lives.”
